Born in Provence, South of France. Laura trained at the École Boulle in Paris, obtaining her Diploma in Arts & Crafts, specialising with work in bronze. After several years work with the designer Van Der Straeten in his atelier in Paris, she spent a year in Asia, in particular studying ancient bronze-casting techniques in Vietnam. Her creativity was hugely enriched by her familiarisation with precious traditional know-how. In 2014, she settled in Berlin, where for 2 years she worked with the designer Stefan Leo & was introduced to different techniques & new materials, like leather, parchment, glass, thus adding to her design repertoire. In 2016, she set up on her own in the centre of Toulouse: Atelier Demichelis, where she designs & makes contemporary lighting and other furnishings & fittings in bronze. All her creations are hand-made & signed, either one-off or in a short numbered series. 1 OF 8 SIGNED AND NUMBERED PIECES.
