In 2012 David Haymann launched Haymann Editions, with the purpose of becoming an “éditeur de mobilier”, a very French notion of commissioning from a designer a collection of original furniture pieces and manufacture them. Collaborating with new and upcoming designers, Haymann Editions challenges the notions of traditional shape and form. Oscar is a tribute to Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida de Niemeyer Soares more commonly known as Oscar Niemeyer the famous Brazilian Pritzker priced architect. Renowned for its constuction of Brazilia or the Franch communist party in Paris, Niemeyer, contrary to le Corbusier, who was of a great infleunce loved curves when Le Corbusier prefered lines and right angles. Charles Kalpakian whom we now know for his ability to draw intersections offers us today this elegantly design lounge chair which armrest’s curves are meant to evoke Niemeyer’s work. Available in all standard finishes with custom materials and sizing available upon request.
